He <br />City Manager <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH ROTARY CLUB OF SAN <br />LEANDRO AND KABOOM! FOR THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A <br />PLAYGROUND AT TOYON PARK WITH COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br />As per the Letter of Intent signed by the City Manager after City Council consent, and having <br />been selected as a project location by KaBOOM! and their funding partner, Amgen; staff <br />recommends that the City Council approve an agreement between the City, Rotary Club of San <br />Leandro and KaBOOM! for the design and construction of a playground with community <br />involvement. <br />BACKGROUND <br />As was reviewed at the April 19, 2010 City Council meeting, the San Leandro Recreation and <br />Human Services Department was contacted by KaBOOM! and asked to consider being a <br />Community Partner and submit an application for a playground site. A funding sponsor had <br />specifically indicated an interest in having a playground built in San Leandro. At the April 19, <br />2010 meeting, the City Council authorized the City Manager to sign a Letter of Intent which <br />states that should the City of San Leandro's project be selected, the City will sign the <br />Community Partner Agreement and move forward with the project. The agreement will also be <br />signed by San Leandro Rotary as KaBOOM! requires that a local non-profit participate. <br />The City of San Leandro/Rotary Club of San Leandro community build playground project at <br />Toyon Park was selected by KaBOOM!'s funding partner, Amgen. The Design Day is <br />scheduled for July 22, 2010 and the Build Day is September 18, 2010. The Community Partner <br />Agreement must be approved by the City of San Leandro, San Leandro Rotary and KaBOOM! in <br />order to move forward. <br />Previous City Council Action(s) <br />On April 19, 2010, by Minute Order No. 2010-022, the City Council authorized the City <br />Manager to sign a Letter of Intent for KaBOOM! stating that if the City was selected as a project <br />
