The services are funded with a Measure A Grant in the amount of $50,000 for Fiscal <br />Year 2011 -12. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Measure A, the Essential Health Care Services Initiative, was passed by Alameda County voters <br />in March 2004. It authorized the County of Alameda to raise its sales tax by one -half cent in <br />order to provide financial support for a variety of health and wellness services for Alameda <br />County residents. With the support of Supervisor Wilma Chan, the City of San Leandro was <br />awarded a Measure A Grant in the amount of $50,000 for two years to provide health and <br />wellness services at the Senior Community Center. With this grant, the following services will <br />be provided: <br />1. Fund part-time staff to administer the following health and wellness services at the <br />Senior Community Center: <br />• Health checks such as blood pressure checks and bone density scanning. <br />
