�w City of San Leandro <br />" Meeting Date: October 17, 2011 <br />Staff Report <br />File Number: 11 -245 Agenda Section: CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Agenda Number: 8.F. <br />TO: City Council <br />FROM: Lianne Marshall <br />Interim City Manager /Executive Director <br />BY: Uchenna Udemezue <br />Engineering & Transportation Director <br />FINANCE REVIEW: James O'Leary, Interim Finance Director <br />TITLE: Staff Report for Resolution Authorizing the Interim City Manager to File an <br />Application with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) for <br />Regional Transportation Improvement Program (RTIP) Funding for the East <br />14th /Hesperian /150th Improvements, Appropriating Grant Funds and Assuring <br />the Completion of the Project <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the Interim City Manager to file an <br />application for Regional Transportation Improvement Program (RTIP) funding with the <br />Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC). This grant will fund the construction of the <br />East 14th /Hesperian /150th Improvements. Additionally, it is recommended that the City <br />Council authorize the Interim City Manager to appropriate grant funding in the amount of <br />$1,000,000 and assure completion of this project. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Pursuant to California Government Code Section 14527(b), the MTC is responsible for <br />programming projects eligible for RTIP funds, including projects in the RTIP, and submitting <br />them to the California Transportation Commission (CTC) for inclusion in the State <br />Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). In June 2011, the MTC directed the Alameda <br />County Transportation Commission (Alameda CTC) to issue a call for projects. The City of <br />San Leandro submitted the subject project and a project for additional streetscape <br />improvements at the same location; however, the Alameda CTC selected only the subject <br />project for its final 13 projects.
