MINUTES <br /> SAN LEANDRO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> MARCH 1, 1993 <br /> The City Council of the City of San Leandro met in regular session in the City <br /> Council Chamber of the City Hall on the above date at 8:00 p.m. , Mayor Karp <br /> presiding. <br /> 1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG <br /> 3. ROLL CALL <br /> PRESENT: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Kerr, Myers, Perry, Polvorosa; <br /> . Mayor Karp <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> 4. PRESENTATIONS <br /> A. Recognition of City Employees for Extraordinary Work. <br /> Mike Oliver, City Manager, said a number of City employees made <br /> extraordinary contributions to the organization and he wished to <br /> recognize them. <br /> He said Bill McCammon and Steve Mikinka of the Fire Department saved <br /> the City more than $20,000 when a vacancy occurred at the Battalion <br /> Chief level by staffing the position themselves. He said they not only <br /> worked their own regular, eight-hour positions, but also staffed the <br /> 24-hour Battalion Chief position. <br /> He commended Bill Algire of the Engineering and Transportation <br /> Department for his work over the last year related to dredging the <br /> City's channel and associated activities. He said, through Mr. <br /> Algire's efforts, the City obtained $1.27 million, which will allow <br /> completion of the dredge program and associated activities. <br /> Mr. Oliver said June Catalano, Steve Emslie, and Blaine Brassfield had <br /> successfully reorganized the Development Services Department and <br /> greatly improved its activities related to the business community. He <br /> said the improvements have been noted by the business community. <br /> He commended Alice Calvert, City Clerk, for organizing the City's first <br /> Economic Development Breakfast in 1992, while also conducting the City <br /> Election. <br />
