MINUTES <br /> SAN LEANDRO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> MARCH 21, 1994 <br /> The City Council of the City of San Leandro met in Regular Session in the City <br /> Council Chambers of the City Hall on the above date at 8:00 p.m. , Mayor Faria <br /> presiding. <br /> I. CALL TO ORDER <br /> 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG <br /> 3. ROLL CALL <br /> PRESENT: Council Members Corbett, Kerr, Myers, Nahm, Perry, Polvorosa; <br /> Mayor Faria <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> 4. PRESENTATIONS <br /> A. Presentations of Commendations from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) <br /> and Mayor Faria to Fire Captain William S. (Bill ) Wood, Jr. , for <br /> Provision of Life-Saving Services. <br /> Captain Jim Berry of the California Highway Patrol read a commendation <br /> from the CHP to Fire Captain Bill Wood, thanking him for his <br /> outstanding community service while off duty, when he pulled a driver <br /> from a burning vehicle on the freeway. <br /> The City Clerk read a Commendation from the Mayor to Captain Wood, <br /> thanking him for providing life-saving services. <br /> Captain Wood thanked the Highway Patrol and the City for the . <br /> recognition. He introduced his wife, Deborah, and father, Bill Wood, <br /> Sr. , and acknowledged his fellow firefighters who were present in the <br /> audience. He said he knew, under similar circumstances, they would <br /> have done the same. <br /> B. Presentation of Check for $1 ,000 to. the City by the Optimist Club of <br /> San Leandro to Help Defray Costs for the Shoreline Run. <br /> Harold Kitzman, Optimist Club Treasurer, presented the check. He said <br /> the Shoreline Run benefits many community organizations in San Leandro. <br /> He introduced past-Presidents of the Club, Minnie Malloy, Shirley <br /> Hemenez, and Richard Hemenez. <br />
