MINUTES • SAN LEANDRO CITY COUNCIL MEETING SEPTEMBER 21, 1992 The City Council of the City of San Leandro met in regular session in the City Council Chamber of the City Hall on the above date at 8:00 p.m. , Mayor Karp presiding. 1. CALL TO ORDER 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG 3. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Kerr, Myers, Perry, Polvorosa; Mayor Karp ABSENT: None 4. PRESENTATIONS A. Presentation of "Superintendent of the Year Award" from the Maintenance Superintendents Association to Angelo Chiurato, Assistant Public Works Services Director. Tom Gorman, President of Bay Area Chapter of Maintenance Superintendents Association, said that Angelo Chiurato, the Assistant Public Works Services Director for the City of San Leandro, was selected by the Association as Superintendent of the Year. He said Mr. Chiurato has served as a Director for three years, as well as treasurer and secretary, and is currently Vice President of the Association. He said Mr. Chiurato defined the roles he assumed to provide clear direction to those elected in the future and documented procedures for the successful annual barbecue and workshops. He said Mr. Chiurato has been involved in workshops, both as co-chairman and chairman. He said Mr. Chiurato's work has taken a great amount of time and effort, as well as organizational skills . He described Mr. Chiurato's help in assisting him with a safety issue in his jurisdiction and presented him with a plaque. Mayor Karp said the City Council is very proud of Mr. Chiurato's work, reflected in a massive increase in production due to his efforts in ensuring that employees are assigned and assigned correctly and produce a product that's first class. Mike Oliver, City Manager, said the City is blessed to have employees like Angelo who are committed to this community and to doing a good job and said they are the unsung heros of the organization.
