MINUTES <br /> SAN LEANDRO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> MAY 6, 1991 <br /> The City Council of the City of San Leandro met in regular session in the City <br /> Council Chamber of the City Hall on the above date at 8:00 p.m. , Mayor Karp <br /> presiding. <br /> 1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG <br /> 3. ROLL CALL <br /> PRESENT: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Glaze, Perry, Polvorosa, Santos; <br /> Mayor Karp <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> 4. NEW BUSINESS <br /> A. Presentation of Proclamation Acknowledging the Services Provided to the <br /> Community by Emergency Medical Service Providers and Declaring May 12- <br /> 18 as EMS Week, in Conjunction with a Similar Proclamation by Congress. <br /> Mayor Karp read a Proclamation to the Fire Department. He said the Fire <br /> Department responds to 4,200 medical calls per year. He said the early <br /> defibrillation and CPR programs operated by the Fire Department meet <br /> vital community needs. He said the Fire Department is also outstanding <br /> in making the community aware of available facilities. He declared May <br /> 12-18 as Emergency Medical Services Week and presented the Proclamation <br /> to Captain Jim Johnston of the Fire Department. <br /> Captain Johnston thanked the City Council and said emergency medical <br /> services is a team effort including of the community, City Council , City <br /> administrators, and the Dispatchers in the Police Department. He invited <br /> the City Council to attend CPR classes, which can be arranged through <br /> the City Manager's Office. He said the Fire Department's goal for 1991 <br /> is to train every City employee in CPR. <br />
