• <br /> San Leandro, California, March 19, 1990 <br /> The City Council of the City of San Leandro met in regular session in the City <br /> Council Chamber of the City Hall on the above date at 8:00 p.m. The meeting <br /> was opened with the pledge of allegiance to the flag of our country, Mayor Karp <br /> presiding. <br /> PRESENT: Council Members Faria, Glaze, Jardin, Perry, Santos, Suchman; <br /> Mayor Karp <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> MINUTES: <br /> The minutes of the meeting of March 5, 1990 were approved. <br /> PRESENTATIONS: <br /> a. Presentation of Check from the San Leandro Optimist Club for the Shoreline <br />• <br /> Run. The Optimist Club presented the City with a check for $1 ,000. The <br /> Mayor accepted the check with thanks and commended the Optimists on their <br /> contributions to the community. Council Member Suchman noted that two weeks <br /> ago the club had also donated $500 to the Council Against Drinking and <br /> Driving. <br /> b. Mayor Karp proclaimed April 1990 as Fair Housing Month. On motion of Council <br /> Member Santos, seconded by Council Member Faria and carried unanimously, the <br /> City Council declared April 1990 Fair Housing Month. <br /> c. Mayor Karp proclaimed April 1 , 1990 as Census Day. John Klein, Housing <br /> Coordinator, accepted the Proclamation on behalf of the citizens of San <br /> Leandro and the Housing Division. A representative of the Census Bureau <br /> noted that March 23 is mail -out day for the Census and said the Census will <br /> affect the lives of everyone for the next 10 years. <br /> On motion of Council Member Jardin, seconded by Council Member Glaze and <br /> carried unanimously, the City Council declared April 1 , 1990 as Census Day. <br /> d. Mayor Karp proclaimed April 1990 as Title VIII , Federal Fair Housing Law, <br /> Fair Housing Month. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> a. Letter from Bernard Lewis, Requesting Extension of Deadline for Removal of <br /> His Boat from 1945 Alvarado Street. Bill Rugg, Community Development <br /> Director, said Mr. Lewis had requested an extension of his March 30, 1990 <br /> deadline to remove his boat. The City Council asked questions regarding the <br /> status of the boat and whether or not it could be floated. Mr. Lewis said <br /> he is doing work for Ronald Day Transportation and when the work is done <br /> Ronald Day Transportation will move the boat. He estimated it may take as <br /> long as six months. On motion of Council Member Suchman, seconded by Council <br /> Member Faria and carried unanimously, the City Council extended the deadline <br /> for removal of the boat to June 30, 1990. <br />
