San Leandro, California, April 16, 1990 <br /> The City Council of the City of San Leandro met in regular session in the City <br /> Council Chamber of the City Hall on the above date at 8:00 p.m. The meeting <br /> was opened with the pledge of allegiance to the flag of our country, Mayor Karp <br /> presiding. <br /> PRESENT: Council Members Faria, Glaze, Jardin, Perry, Santos, Suchman; <br /> Mayor Karp <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> MINUTES: <br /> The minutes of the meeting of April 2, 1990 were approved as amended. <br /> PRESENTATIONS: <br /> a. Presentation of Proclamation Declaring April 22-28, 1990 National Library <br /> Week. Mayor Karp introduced Ms. "Rita Book, " the Library Mascot for the <br /> Children's Program. He presented the Proclamation to Dave Bohne, Library <br /> Director, who invited everyone to attend the festivities that would be <br /> occurring during National Library Week. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> a. Letter from George Silva, Conductor of the San Leandro Municipal Band, <br /> requesting funds for four performances to be paid by the City for the 1990- <br /> 1991 Fiscal Year. The letter from George Silva was referred to the budget <br /> process. <br /> b. Letter from Betty Bailey, President of Marina Faire Homeowners Association, <br /> Inc. , requesting the San Leandro Municipal Band to play for their Annual <br /> Picnic on Sunday, July 29, 1990 at the San Leandro Marina. The letter from <br /> Betty Bailey was referred to the budget process. <br /> COMMUNICATIONS FROM BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS: <br /> a. Letter from Recreation and Parks Commission Recommending the Installation <br /> of a Plaque in Recognition of Ed Suchman and Bob Glaze at the Lou Gehrig <br /> Field in Stenzel Park. Henry Nardine, Chair of the Recreation and Parks <br /> Commission, said that Council Members Suchman and Glaze have done a <br /> significant amount of work at Stenzel Park on their free time and they <br /> deserve recognition. <br /> On motion of Council Member Jardin, seconded by Council Member Santos, with <br /> Council Members Glaze and Suchman abstaining, the installation of the plaque <br /> was approved. <br />
