San Leandro, California, April 16, 1990 The City Council of the City of San Leandro met in regular session in the City Council Chamber of the City Hall on the above date at 8:00 p.m. The meeting was opened with the pledge of allegiance to the flag of our country, Mayor Karp presiding. PRESENT: Council Members Faria, Glaze, Jardin, Perry, Santos, Suchman; Mayor Karp ABSENT: None MINUTES: The minutes of the meeting of April 2, 1990 were approved as amended. PRESENTATIONS: a. Presentation of Proclamation Declaring April 22-28, 1990 National Library Week. Mayor Karp introduced Ms. "Rita Book, " the Library Mascot for the Children's Program. He presented the Proclamation to Dave Bohne, Library Director, who invited everyone to attend the festivities that would be occurring during National Library Week. CORRESPONDENCE: a. Letter from George Silva, Conductor of the San Leandro Municipal Band, requesting funds for four performances to be paid by the City for the 1990- 1991 Fiscal Year. The letter from George Silva was referred to the budget process. b. Letter from Betty Bailey, President of Marina Faire Homeowners Association, Inc. , requesting the San Leandro Municipal Band to play for their Annual Picnic on Sunday, July 29, 1990 at the San Leandro Marina. The letter from Betty Bailey was referred to the budget process. COMMUNICATIONS FROM BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS: a. Letter from Recreation and Parks Commission Recommending the Installation of a Plaque in Recognition of Ed Suchman and Bob Glaze at the Lou Gehrig Field in Stenzel Park. Henry Nardine, Chair of the Recreation and Parks Commission, said that Council Members Suchman and Glaze have done a significant amount of work at Stenzel Park on their free time and they deserve recognition. On motion of Council Member Jardin, seconded by Council Member Santos, with Council Members Glaze and Suchman abstaining, the installation of the plaque was approved.
