San Leandro, California, June 18, 1990 <br /> The City Council of the City of San Leandro met in regular session in the City <br /> Council Chamber of the City Hall on the above date at 8:00 p.m. The meeting <br /> was opened with the pledge of allegiance to the flag of our country, Vice Mayor <br /> Glaze presiding. <br /> PRESENT: Council Members Corbett, Faria, Perry, Polvorosa, Santos; <br /> Vice Mayor Glaze <br /> ABSENT: Mayor Karp <br /> The City Clerk noted that Mayor Karp was attending the U. S. Conference of Mayors <br /> in Chicago and was not able to be present at tonight's meeting. <br /> MINUTES: <br /> The minutes of the meeting of June 4, 1990 were approved as submitted. <br /> PRESENTATIONS: <br /> a. Presentation by the North Area Business and Professional Association of Check <br /> for $500 for Improvements to Victoria Park. Doug Scott presented the check <br /> on behalf of the North Area Business and Professional Association. Vice <br /> Mayor Glaze thanked the Association and expressed the City's appreciation. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> a. Letter from Robert Maten, 1106 Glen Drive, Opposing Early Closure Hour for <br /> Bridge Gate to Chabot Park. This matter was referred to the Recreation and <br /> Parks Commission. Vice Mayor Glaze noted that the Commission is already <br /> studying this matter and will be preparing a report on it. <br /> b. Letter from Glenn Hilton, President, Best Manor Homeowners Association, <br /> Regarding Need for a Flag at City Hall and the Veterans' Memorial on Memorial <br /> Day. This matter was referred to staff and will be addressed. <br /> c. Letter from Betty Bailey, President, Marina Faire Homeowners Association, <br /> Inc. , Requesting Placement of a Sign and/or Monument at Bermuda and Doolittle <br /> to Designate the Marina Faire Community. This matter was referred to staff. <br /> d. Letter from Bernard Lewis, Requesting Extension of Deadline for Removal of <br /> His Boat from 1945 Alvarado Street. Mr. Lewis said that Ronald Day <br /> Transportation was planning on moving his boat and ran into problems with <br /> Cal Trans. He said Cal Trans felt Mr. Day's existing truck was insufficient <br /> to bear the weight of the boat so they are now looking at the feasibility <br /> of using a nine-axle trailer with adapters . <br /> The City Council asked a number of questions related to the weight of the <br /> boat and the type of trailers that would be needed. <br /> On motion of Council Member Polvorosa, seconded by Council Member Santos and <br /> carried unanimously the deadline for removal of the boat was extended to <br /> December 17, 1990. <br />
