This project is listed as a high priority in the San Leandro Bicycle and
Pedestrian Master Plan and is consistent with the City's Transit Oriented Development
Strategy. The project will be accomplished via two construction contracts; one for bike lockers
and one for civil work on West Juana Avenue.
The subject contract will improve the pedestrian environment on West Juana Avenue between
San Leandro Boulevard and Hays Street by installing high visibility decorative crosswalks and
sidewalk bulb outs at all crossings.
Improvements adjacent to the Marea Alta project (between San Leandro Boulevard and
Carpentier Street), which is currently in construction, will be built by the developer. The
electronic bicycle lockers will be supplied and installed by BART's vendor under a separate
contract with the City.
City of San Leandro Page 1 Printed on 5/27/2015
