City of San Leandro <br />Meeting Date: September 8, 2015 <br />Staff Report <br />Agenda Section:File Number:15-471 CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Agenda Number:8.N. <br />TO:City Council <br />FROM:Chris Zapata <br />City Manager <br />BY:Keith Cooke <br />Engineering & Transportation Director <br />FINANCE REVIEW:David Baum <br />Finance Director <br />TITLE:Staff Report for a Resolution Accepting the Work for the Annual Overlay / <br />Rehabilitation Project 2013-14, Project No. 2014.0050 <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Staff recommends acceptance of the work, filing of the Notice of Completion, and authorizing <br />the City Manager to release the maintenance bonds for the subject project upon successful <br />completion of the one-year maintenance period. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Two street segments were reconstructed as part of the subject project: <br />·Bigge Street from Adams Avenue east to end at cul-de-sac <br />·East side of Bancroft Avenue from Dutton Avenue to San Leandro Creek <br />Reconstruction consisted of installing a new asphalt concrete (AC) pavement section on a <br />cement stabilized base. This process involved removing the existing AC pavement, mixing <br />cement into the road base to provide a stable foundation and installing a surface course of <br />new AC. The project also completed sanitary sewer point repairs and installed speed <br />cushions on several residential streets. <br />Speed cushions were installed at eight new locations as part of this project: <br />·One on Durant Avenue between Warwick and Bancroft Avenues, <br />·Three on Juana Avenue between Rosa Street and Bancroft Avenue, <br />·Two on Durant Avenue between East 14th Street and Breed Avenue, <br />·One on Breed Avenue between Durant Avenue and Broadmoor Boulevard, and <br />·One on 138th Avenue across from the San Leandro Senior Community Center. <br />Seven existing asphalt concrete speed cushions were also replaced on Durant Avenue <br />between Breed Avenue and Mac Arthur Boulevard: The existing asphalt concrete speed <br />Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 9/2/2015
