IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 2016-003 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT GRANT FUNDS IN <br /> THE AMOUNT OF $40,000 FROM THE PLAY 60, PLAY ON INITIATIVE PRESENTED BY <br /> 50 FUND AND THE NFL FOUNDATION FOR INTERACTIVE COMMUNITY EVENTS <br /> WHEREAS the City Council supports and implements programs and activities that <br /> enhance the quality of life and wellness, celebrates arts and diversity, and promotes civic pride; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS,the focus of the Recreation and Human Services Department is to enhance <br /> the quality of life and create opportunities to bring together the community and promote fun, art, <br /> and positive social opportunities; and <br /> WHEREAS, on October 16, 2015 the Recreation and Human Services Department <br /> submitted an application for a PLAY 60, Play On grant in the amount of$40,000 to host <br /> community events, and on November 16, 2015 the NFL Foundation notified the City of San <br /> Leandro that it was awarded$40,000 of the $750,000 grant funds available to 21 Bay Area cities. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE,the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as <br /> follows: <br /> 1. That the City Manager is authorized to accept the PLAY 60, Play On grant award <br /> in the amount of$40,000; and <br /> 2. That an appropriation of the Play 60, Play on grant funding to account#150-61- <br /> 043 is approved. <br /> Introduced by Councilmember Prola and passed and adopted this 4th day of January, <br /> 2016, by the following vote: <br /> Members of the Council: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Cox, Lee, Lopez, Prola, Reed, Thomas; Mayor Cutter (7) <br /> NOES: None (0) <br /> ABSENT: None (0) <br /> ATTEST: <br /> Tamika Greenwood, City Clerk <br />
