It was noted in the resolution 2015-391, that Landscape
Structures equipment was already in use in several other City parks; is more durable than other
brands of park equipment that are in use; is more cost-effective and time-saving especially with
regards to the procurement of replacement parts; and the company provides excellent warranties
and customer service.
In 2017 the City was awarded a grant from the State’s Housing and Community Development
Department (HCD) in the amount of $163,750. The grant was specifically written for
redevelopment of Warden Park.
Ross Recreation Equipment is the sole distributor of Landscape Structures, Inc. playground
equipment. At the City’s request, Ross Recreation Equipment prepared three design alternatives
that were vetted by Recreation & Human Services staff as well as by the public at a meeting held
late last year. The total cost for purchase and installation of the new playground equipment is
$146,848.58. Because the HCD grant came in at a lower amount than was applied for, Public
Page 1 City of San Leandro Printed on 5/30/2018
110
