City of San Leandro <br />Meeting Date: March 16, 2020 <br />Staff Report <br />Agenda Section:File Number:20-085 CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Agenda Number:8.C. <br />TO:City Council <br />FROM:Jeff Kay <br />City Manager <br />BY:Keith Cooke <br />Engineering & Transportation Director <br />FINANCE REVIEW:Liz Warmerdam <br />Interim Finance Director <br />TITLE:Staff Report for a City of San Leandro City Council Resolution to Accept the <br />Work of the Annual Street Overlay/Rehabilitation 2016-17 Phase 2, Project No. <br />2017.0050 <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br />This contract reconstructed eight (8) street segments throughout the City, including upgrades to <br />several curb ramps to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. <br />Staff recommends the following actions: <br />·Accept the work; <br />·File the Notice of Completion; and <br />·Authorize the City Manager to release the performance and payment bonds, and to <br />release the maintenance bonds for the subject project upon successful completion of the <br />one-year maintenance period. <br />BACKGROUND <br />This contract is the second contract funded by the subject project. The project was split into two <br />phases in order to advance the construction and use available grant funds expeditiously while <br />design work was still progressing. The first contract for repairs and reconstruction/overlay on a <br />total of 4.2 lane miles of pavement has already been completed and accepted by the Council. <br />This second phase contract completed repairs, reconstruction and/or overlay on a total of 2.7 lane <br />miles of pavement on eight segments of City streets, including upgrading 32 curb ramps within <br />the project limits to comply with the ADA. In addition to reconstruction of streets, the project <br />constructed two enhanced crosswalks with Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons on San Leandro <br />Boulevard to support our complete streets goals and installed eleven speed cushions on several <br />streets for neighborhood traffic calming.
