The <br />resolution authorizes the City Manager to execute the purchase agreement and other documents <br />necessary to finance the acquisition. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City's contract with the Alameda County Fire Department (ACFD) for fire services includes <br />provisions for City ownership of all fire facilities and equipment, including fire engines. Currently, <br />the apparatus in City service includes five engines and three trucks. The Fiscal Year 2020-2021 <br />Fire Service Budget approved by the City Council included the replacement of a fire truck. Since <br />the City owned unit was retired in August 2011, the ACFD has been providing San Leandro <br />Station 9 with the use of a Type 6 (Wildland Firefighting) apparatus under a mutual agreement. <br />The County owned Type 6 apparatus currently placed at Station 9 is now 25 years old and is in <br />need of replacement. <br />Analysis <br />ACFD recently went through a procurement process with HGACBuy Cooperative to select a <br />replacement fire truck for Station 9. HGACBuy is the piggyback purchase system ACFD uses to <br />purchase its fire apparatus.
