City of San Leandro <br />Meeting Date: September 19, 2022 <br />Staff Report <br />Agenda Section:File Number:22-545 CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Agenda Number:10.j. <br />TO:City Council <br />FROM:Fran Robustelli <br />City Manager <br />BY:Brian Simons <br />Library Services Director <br />TITLE:Adopt a Resolution to Authorize the City Manager to Accept a $30,000 Bequest <br />from the Pamela Kung Revocable Living Trust for the Expansion of Chinese <br />Language Materials at the San Leandro Public Library and for Council to <br />Authorize Appropriation of $30,000 into Fiscal Year 2022-2023 expenditure <br />account 010-68-008 <br />COUNCIL PRIORITY <br />·Community Engagement and Outreach <br />·Race and Equity Initiatives <br />SUMMARY <br />The Pamela Kung Revocable Living Trust has provided a $30,000 bequest to the San Leandro <br />Public Library for the expansion of Chinese language materials. <br /> RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Staff recommends that the City Manager accept the Pamela Kung Revocable Living Trust <br />$30,000 bequest for the expansion of the Chinese language materials of the San Leandro Public <br />Library. <br />BACKGROUND <br />In a letter dated June 16, 2022, the Law Office of David J. Yang, representing the Pamela Kung <br />Revocable Living Trust, informed the Library Director of the $30,000 bequest to the San Leandro <br />Public Library. <br />Analysis <br />The $30,000 bequest will allow the San Leandro Public Library to significantly expand and <br />enhance the quality of its Chinese language materials over multiple fiscal years.
