City of San Leandro <br />City Council <br />Meeting Date: June 20, 2023 <br />Agenda Number: 10.r. <br />Agenda Section: CONSENT CALENDAR <br />File Number: 23-291 <br />File Type: Staff Report <br />Adopt a Resolution to Approve and Authorize the City Manager to Execute an Animal Shelter <br />Services Agreement with the East Bay SPCA with a Not to Exceed Amount of $720,000.00 for Fiscal <br />Years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 <br />COUNCIL PRIORITY <br />·Public Safety <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Staff requests that the City Council review, approve, and authorize the City Manager to <br />execute an animal shelter services agreement with the East Bay SPCA with a not to exceed <br />amount of $720,000.00 for two Fiscal Years, FY 2023-2024 and FY 2024-2025. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Police Department currently utilizes the East Bay SPCA to provide quality animal <br />sheltering services as part of its core service delivery to the community. <br />The SPCA allotted 400 animals per year to San Leandro for the contracted amount of <br />$360,000.00 dollars annually. <br />Previous Actions <br />·Resolution No. 2020-153: East Bay SPCA Agreement, December 7, 2020 <br />·Resolution No. 2022-018: East Bay SPCA Agreement, January 18, 2022 <br />Financial Impacts <br />Funds budgeted in Fiscal Year 2023-2024 and Fiscal Year 2024-2025 General Fund are <br />sufficient to cover the cost of the Animal Shelter services . <br />ATTACHMENT <br />Attachment A: Resolution to Authorize the City Manager to Execute an Animal Shelter <br />Services Agreement with the East Bay SPCA with a Not to Exceed Amount of $720,000.00 <br />for Two Fiscal Years. <br />PREPARED BY: Natalie A.
