ITEMS REMOVED FROM CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />Public comments are limited to 3 minutes per speaker per item, subject to adjustment by the <br />Mayor. <br /> <br />8.D. Resolution No. 2005-026, Resolution of Award of Contract to Krama, Inc. for the <br />Washington Manor Library, Project No. 210-69-146, and Appropriation of Capital <br />Improvement Program Reserve Funds in the Amount of $1,620,000 (recommends <br />award to the lowest bidder for bid amount of $4,140,000). Bids opened February 24, <br />2005. Funding: State of California Library Grant and General Fund. (3014) <br /> <br />Councilmember Glaze indicated that this action is the culmination of a process that has <br />been many years in the making. He expressed regret that Mayor Young was not present, <br />as she is the last remaining member of the City Council that began the process almost <br />eight years ago. Councilmember Glaze related some of the history of the Manor Branch <br />Library project and some of its many advocates, including Anne Howell Dean, Shirley <br />Simpson and Al Cayere. He thanked City Manager Jermanis and the Engineering and <br />Transportation staff for their diligent efforts in bringing the project to this stage. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Badger commented that, on behalf of his colleagues on the Council, it was <br />hoped that the project could have been completed before Councilmember Glaze left <br />office. <br /> <br />Councilmember Nardine commented on Councilmember Glaze's commitment to the <br />community and to his district and suggested that when the project is complete, he <br />should be invited to participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. <br /> <br />Councilmember Santos commented that the plaque at the Marina Community Center <br />recognizes the present Council as well as the Councilmembers that participated in the <br />decision-making on its planning and development. He expressed hope that this type of <br />recognition would also be considered for Councilmember Glaze on the plaque for the <br />Manor Branch Library. <br /> <br />- Adopted <br /> <br />M/S/C Glaze and Santos.
