MINUTES City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-March 7, 2005 Page 9 City Attorney Jayne Williams reiterated City Manager Jermanis' comments regarding the appropriateness and adherence to requirements of Town Hall meetings. She noted that Town Hall meetings are not subject to the Brown Act. 7. AMENDMENT OF CONSENT CALENDAR City Councilmembers or staff have an opportunity at this time to request that an item be removed from the Consent Calendar for the presentation of a staff report or other special consideration. Members of the Public may request the opportunity to address the City Council regarding items remaining on the Consent Calendar by filling out a speaker card and submitting it to the City Clerk prior to the calling of Item 7, Amendment of Consent Calendar. Items remaining on the Consent Calendar will be considered for approval under one motion. Public Comments on the Consent Calendar: Lou Filipovich, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, commenting that the City is spending money on the items listed on the Consent Calendar and asking where the money is coming from. End of Public Comments Councilmember Grant noted that the two items related to the CAD/RMS Replacement Project together total about $3 million. She asked if there are any safeguards in place in the event the consultant and/or vendor will no longer support the system. Mr. Jermanis indicated that the City expects that the new system will be serviceable for the next 15 years. Information Services Manager Rayan Fowler noted that one of the reasons New World Systems was selected as the vendor was for its longevity and continuity of support to its customers. It has served the City of Tracy for many years, and the City of San Francisco has recently purchased a portion of the same system that San Leandro is proposing to purchase. Ms. Fowler indicated that New World Systems seems to be conservative in the expansion of its operations. Vice Mayor Badger added that he and Mayor Young are both members of the Rules and Communications Committee and have asked essentially the same questions regarding the vendor's long-term viability. Consent Calendar was amended to remove Item 8.D. Item will be considered under Item 9. Items Removed from Consent Calendar. 8. CONSENT CALENDAR Consent Calendar items are considered for approval by the City Council with one single action. As described above in Item 7, Amendment of Consent Calendar, the City Council may remove items from the Consent Calendar for purposes of presentation or discussion.
