Councilmember Starosciak pointed to the recent Bancroft Middle
School grant as a good example of City-School District cooperation, and having a
School District representative on the commission ensures some cohesiveness and
regular communication on the commission level.

Mayor Young commented that the City and School District joint ventures are largely
attributable to the memoranda of understanding signed by the 17 elected officials from
the City and School Districts in which they pledged to work together on joint use
projects. She added that there is already representation on the commission by the
members who live within the School District boundaries.

.
