<br />MINUTES Page 12 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-October 17, 2005 <br /> <br />recommended action is taken tonight, he will direct his District 5 representative on the <br />Recreation and Parks Commission to maintain a closer liaison with the School Board <br />member in his area, in order to maintain the strong ties between the City and Schools. <br />He also expressed hoped to continue productive meetings between the City Council and <br />School Boards, which have yielded great results like the Bancroft Field. <br /> <br />Public Comments on Item 10.^-: <br /> <br />Diana Souza, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, urging the Council <br />not to pass the proposed ordinance and to retain the School Board representatives on the <br />Recreation and Parks Commission. Ms. Souza commented on the value of the <br />representatives to the City and School Board, including decision-making on community <br />benefit funds, joint-use projects, and relationship-building. <br /> <br />Lou Filipovich, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council regarding choosing <br />board and commission members by drawing names and other issues unrelated to the <br />item. <br /> <br />End of Public Comments on Item 10.^- <br /> <br />At Mayor Young's suggestion, Councilmember Grant amended her motion to add to the <br />ordinance that the two at large nominations will be made in consultation with the <br />respective school districts. Vice Mayor Badger, who seconded the motion, accepted the <br />amendment. <br /> <br />A motion to table the item failed by a vote of 3 to 4. <br /> <br />M/S Santos and Nardine.
