One example is Columbus, Ohio,. profiled elsewhere in this section. There,theCbmmunity <br />Shelter Board, the community's lead organization for coordinating the responsetohomelessness, is guided <br />by a board of trustees made up almost entirely of business .Ieaders. <br /> <br />Another more local example is the Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG). Formerly the Silicon Valley <br />Manufacturers' Group, SVLG is a membership organization representing 190 Silicon Valley firms and <br />supporting industries including software, systems, manufacturing, financial services, accounting, <br />transportation, health care, defense, communications, education, and utilities. SVLG's mission isto involve <br />member companies to work cooperatively on "majorpublic policy issues affecting the economic health and <br />quality of life in Silicon Valley." <br /> <br />SVlGhasidentified affordable housing as one offive core issues, with a focus on housing for the <br />workforce. SVlGhas helped raise moneyfor the Santa Clara Housing Trust Fund, which includes funding <br />specifically for homeless programs, and is working to establish a permanenUundingsource, SVlG is also <br />supporting efforts to establish a.
