ACTION ITEMS <br /> <br />Public comments are limited to 3 minutes per speaker per item, subject to adjustment by the <br />Mayor. <br /> <br />Mayor Young announced that the City recently received a Certificate of Achievement for <br />Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) <br />for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2005. She noted that the City has received this award for <br />the past sixteen consecutive years. Mayor Young presented a commendation to Finance <br />Director Jesse Baloca acknowledging the Finance Department's commitment to excellence in <br />financial reporting. <br /> <br />A. Presentation by Library Services Director David Bohne of Activities Celebrating the <br />San Leandro Library's 100th Anniversary. (1800) <br /> <br />In the absence of Library Services Director David Bohne, Library Services Manager <br />Nancy Fong gave a PowerPoint presentation detailing the history of the San Leandro <br />Library and the many activities planned to celebrate the Library's 100th Anniversary. <br /> <br />B. Matter of Discussion Regarding the Land Use Alternatives Report Related to the <br />Downtown Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Strategy and Schedule Update <br />(provides comments on the Land Use Alternatives Report to the Downtown TOD <br />Strategy Citizen Advisory Committee and consultants). (3076) <br /> <br />Planner III Kathleen Livermore thanked the Council for participating in the Citizens <br />Advisory Committee (CAC) meetings conducted thus far. Ms. Livermore gave a <br />PowerPoint presentation providing background on the Downtown Transit-Oriented <br />Development Strategy and providing a report on the results of the June 13,2006 CAC <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Young asked if consideration has been given to the World Savings property now <br />that the business has been sold. Community Development Director Hanson Horn <br />indicated that the new business owners have expressed to City staff their interest in <br />developing the rest of the site, and staff have discussed with them the transit <br />opportunities being considered. <br /> <br />Councilmember Starosciak asked if all ,the opportunity sites would still be considered, <br />or only the three which were prioritized. Ms. Livermore indicated that all the sites <br />would be outlined in the reports; however, the Committee wanted to take a closer look <br />at the financial information and the effects of local rules and regulations for the three <br />particular sites. <br /> <br />Councilmember Santos commented that Thrasher Park has historical significance at its <br />present location and should not be relocated. <br />
