<br />l\UNUTES Page 4 <br />City of San Leandro City Council, San Leandro Redevelopment Agency, and San Leandro Public Financing Authority <br />Joint Meeting-May 17l 2004 <br /> <br />Jim Evans, Senior Transportation Planner for BART, addressed the City Council in <br />support of the Shuttle. He stated AC Transit has provided funding to the LINKS Shuttle <br />as a feeder shuttle to BART and to augment the existing AC Transit service. <br /> <br />Charlie Cameron, Hayward resident, addressed the City Council, stating he used the <br />Shuttle in the past and supports continuing the service. <br /> <br />Darryl Ray, Owner of Alpha Innotech, addressed the City Council, stating his <br />business is within the BID. He stated he has 43 employees, eight that have used the <br />Shuttle. Mr. Ray applauded MDL Information Systems for providing funding for the <br />Shuttle and spoke in support of businesses contributing to the cost of the Shuttle. <br /> <br />Dan Walters, Owner of Copper Harbor Company, addressed the City Council on <br />behalf of Dale Reed and the TMO. He stated the LINKS Shuttle is the second lowest <br />cost shuttle in the Bay Area, has very high ridership and runs on time. He asked the <br />Council to support the BID. <br /> <br />Chuck Pershing, President of the Chamber of Commerce, addressed the City <br />Council, stating that the Chamber Board of Directors voted 18-3 to support the LINKS <br />Shuttle and the BID. <br /> <br />Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, addressed the City Council, stating the <br />Chmnber of Commerce should have no involvement in this lnatter. He expressed <br />concerns for the people who will be paYing for the Shuttle but not using it. Mr. <br />Filipovich stated that businesses will not pay for the Shuttle but will pass the cost on to <br />their customers. <br /> <br />Arturo Alcantar, South San Francisco resident, addressed the City Council, stating <br />that he rides the Shuttle from BART to his job at Otis Spunkmeyer every day. He <br />expressed his support for the Shuttle and commented that his daily commute would be <br />lengthened by about an hour without the Shuttle. <br /> <br />Frank Fensterer, 14216 Nassau Road, addressed the City Council, stating that he <br />rides the Shuttle from his home to BART then takes BART to his job in Oakland. He <br />expressed support for the LINKS Shuttle and noted the need for the Shuttle due to the <br />reduction in AC Transit service. <br /> <br />Sha-wn Wilson, representing Alameda County Supervisor Alice Lai-Bitker, <br />addressed the City Council to convey Supervisor Lai-Bitker's suppOli for the Shuttle. <br />He noted that from working with the County Welfare-to-Work program, transportation <br />is a key component to achieving self-sufficiency. Mr. Wilson distributed letters of <br />support from Supervisor Lai-Bitker to the Mayor and City Council. <br /> <br />Richard Wahl, Chamber of Commerce Board Member, addressed the City Council <br />in support of the Shuttle. He stated that Netopia, a local business with 25 en1ployees, <br />also supports the Shuttle program. <br />
