<br />lYIINUTES Page 9 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-November 1, 2004 <br /> <br />Mayor Young reported that the Chmnber of Commerce held its retreat last weekend, and <br />she was invited to give a presentation on regional governing agencies. <br /> <br />B. Reports on City Council Committees <br /> <br />1. Airport Committee Meeting of October 7, 2004. Accepted as submitted. <br /> <br />2. Business Development Committee Special Meeting of October 12, 2004. <br />Accepted as submitted. <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant called to the Council's attention that the meeting was <br />focused exclusively on the subject of the Inclusionary Housing Ordinance. She <br />noted that housing issues will be the subject of the City Council's November 8 <br />Work Session. Councilmember Grant urged members of the public who are <br />interested in the subject of inclusionary housing to attend the upcoming work <br />seSSIon. <br /> <br />3. Facilities Comn1ittee Meeting of October 14, 2004. Accepted as submitted. <br /> <br />4. Rules and Communications Con1illittee Meeting of October 20, 2004. Accepted <br />as submitted. <br /> <br />12. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councihnen1ber Grant con1mented that she enjoyed the mixer earlier this evening with the <br />Youth Advisory Commission (Y AC) applicants, noting that this year's group is lively and <br />vocal. <br /> <br />Counciln1ember Nardine agreed that the Y AC mixer was enjoyable. She commented that it <br />would be good for the Y AC to occasionally come before the Council to present their ideas. <br /> <br />Councilmember Glaze concurred with the comments regarding the Y AC. He wished <br />Counciln1embers Grant and Santos good luck in tomorrow's election. <br /> <br />Councihnember Stephens expressed appreciation for the letter from Mayor Young to Mayor <br />Brown of Oakland expressing opposition to the proposal for an Indian gaming casino near <br />Oakland International Airport. <br /> <br />Councihnember Stephens expressed disappointment and anger at the response from the Port <br />of Oakland regarding pile driving, characterizing the Port's response as inadequate and <br />unneighborly. <br /> <br />Councilmember Stephens requested that tonight's meeting be adjourned in meInory of A. <br />Sylvia Collier. <br />
