Matter of Discussion Regarding City Council Appointments to I nfergovernmental
Agencies, (1156)

Mayor Young discussed her reasons for wanting to continue to serve on the EBDA,
including her current commitment as chair of the Authority. She requested to continue to
serve through the end of the calendar year, which would allow her to remove hersc1ffrom
the position without a disruption to the leadership.

Mayor Young also suggested that if the Council is interested in sharing opportunities on
paid committees, it should appoint an altemate who is not currently serving on a paid
committee and set some policy [or future appointments so the discussion docs not need to
be revisited each year.

Mayor Young suggested if the Council plans to remove her from all her paid committees
in order to grant the salary adjustment, she would like to withdraw her request, as she
would lose more income than she would be gaining. She pointed out that before
Councilmcmber Loeffler left on~ce he was serving on I () committees and that
Councilmembers need to be willing to help with these committees as well.

LOll Filipovich, 15376 LaVerne Drive, addressed the City Council regarding the number
of committees in existence and questioned their usefulness. He suggested committees
exist to acquire revenue to promote their own policies. Mr. Filipovich stated opposition
to any adjustment to the Mayor's salary and suggested abolishing some oEthe committees.
