<br />l\UNUTES Page 6 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-March 17,2003 <br /> <br />The Hearing was then opened to the public. <br /> <br />Robin Chinn, Community Resources for Independent Living (CRIL), addressed the <br />City Council on behalf of her friend, Chris Finn, who is a client of CRIL. Ms. Chinn read <br />a statement from Mr. Finn to the City Council regarding allocating funding to CRIL to <br />expand their existing facility. <br /> <br />Elizabeth Pazdral, Executive Director of CRIL, addressed the City Council to urge <br />support for funding for CRIL's proposed ren10deling proj ect. <br /> <br />There being no further comments from the public, and without opposition, the Public <br />Hearing was closed. <br /> <br />Councilmelnber Santos asked if the City currently funds CRIL and if their remodeling <br />proj ect could be considered for funding under this process. Ms. Brown responded the <br />City is not currently funding CRIL, but the Council could decide to fund the remodeling <br />project if it chooses. Vice Mayor Glaze also expressed interest in having CRIL's request <br />included in the list of proposed projects. Councilmember Santos suggested the City might <br />also assist CRIL in applying for HUD or other grant funding. <br /> <br />Councilmen1ber Grant suggested Council give some consideration to the homeless <br />problem and whether the funding in the Plan targeted to the homeless will address some <br />of the issues experienced by the community. <br /> <br />Mayor Young requested that staff look into why CRIL's request was not included for <br />consideration in the initial project list and also provide a list of the assistance already <br />provided to CRIL by the City. <br /> <br />The City Council directed staff to publish a summary of the proposed activities and <br />set a public hearing for April 21, 2003 to consider final approval of the Action Plan. <br /> <br />M1S/C Grant and Stephens. Ayes: 6; Noes: 0; Absent: 1 (Nardine) <br /> <br />4. JOINT CITY COUNCIL/SAN LEANDRO REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY PUBLIC <br />HEARINGS <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />5. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Comments are limited to 3 minutes per person. When you address the City Council, you <br />should fill out a speaker card and submit it to the City Clerk so the order of speakers may be <br />detennined and an official record of names and addresses obtained. The public is invited to <br />Inake comments on items of public interest NOT listed on the Agenda. <br />
