<br />~IINUTES Page 7 <br />City of San Leandro City Council, San Leandro Redevelopment Agency and San Leandro Public Financing Authority <br />Joint Meeting-May 19, 2003 <br /> <br />Kathy Banks, 964 Hutchings Drive, addressed the City Council, asking if the Salvation <br />Army store will be demolished to make way for senior housing, supporting thrift stores and <br />recycling and the accessibility and safety of trails. <br /> <br />Mike Rawlis, 964 Hutchings Drive, addressed the City Council, giving suggestions for the <br />use of the old fire station on Davis Street, requesting consideration for placement of public <br />restrooms on East 14th Street and providing suggestions for the Bay Trail. <br /> <br />Darlene Evans, 361 Bristol Boulevard, addressed the City Council, describing problems <br />with fireworks and other disruptive activities in her neighborhood. <br /> <br />Harold Perez, Davis West Neighborhood Group, addressed the City Council, expressing <br />appreciation for the Neighborhood Cleanup, Cinco de Mayo celebration and Fire Station 10 <br />Grand Opening and cOffilllenting on water quality issues. <br /> <br />Wafaa Aborashed, Davis West Neighborhood Group, addressed the City Council, <br />reporting problems regarding idling tnlcks at Costco and the resulting air pollution from <br />diesel particulates. She also expressed concern regarding drivers who leave their engines <br />idling for long periods while waiting to fill up at the Costco gas station. <br /> <br />Paul Vargas, 872 Portola Drive, addressed the City Council regarding Agenda Item <br />11.BA.a. regarding the appropriation of General Tax Revenues for Anti-Violence Programs. <br /> <br />6. CITY MANAGER AND CITY ATTORNEY REPORTS AND COMMENTS <br /> <br />City Manager J ermanis made the following comments: <br /> <br />The City is not aware of any proposal to develop the property currently occupied by the <br />Salvation Army Thrift Store. <br /> <br />There is a plan to bring to the City Council Facilities Committee a proposal for use of the two <br />vacant fire stations. <br /> <br />The City had previously contacted Costco regarding the idling trucks and will revisit the issue <br />with them along with the issue of idling cars at the gas station. <br /> <br />The itenl regarding the appropriation of General Tax Revenues for Anti-Violence Programs <br />for Council consideration later this evening would place the item on a future Council meeting <br />for discussion and action, and any action taken at that time will be within the parameters <br />previously authorized by the voters. <br />
