When you address the City Council, you <br />should fill out a speaker card and submit it to the City Clerk so the order of speakers may be <br />determined and an official record of names and addresses obtained. The public is invited to <br />make comments on items of public interest NOT listed on the Agenda. <br /> <br />Kathy Banks, 964 Hutchings Drive, addressed the City Council, suggesting sending a <br />message to the State and Federal governments requesting they find creative ways to solve the <br />budget problems without causing undue suffering to citizens. <br /> <br />Mike Rawlis, 964 Hutchings Drive, addressed the City Council, making suggestions <br />regarding the hours, parking and food prices at the annual Cherry Festival. Mr. Rawlis also <br />commented on the need by local residents for more entry-level jobs and education on political <br />issues which affect them. <br /> <br />Mike Sobek, Vice President of the San Leandro Police Officers' Association, addressed <br />the City Council, providing information about the SLPOA and thanking the Mayor and <br />Council for their continued support and commitment to the strong working relationship that <br />has been established. Members of the SLPOA presented the City Council with polo shirts. <br /> <br />Harold Perez, 2052 Vestal Court, addressed the City Council regarding neighborhood <br />nuisance issues, a courier service parking vehicles on CalTrans property under the freeway <br />and the traffic problem on Davis and Doolittle. <br /> <br />Larry Norry, 2532 Williams Street, addressed the City Council, remarking that Stericycle <br />trucks are parked on property owned by the Bluewater Company on Williams Street and <br />expressing concern about the 15% allowable increase to Stericycle's fleet. <br /> <br />Larry Smith, 958 Arguello Drive, addressed the City Council regarding the noise and safety <br />concerns created by motorized scooters. Mr. Smith suggested the Council consider a local <br />ordinance requiring drivers of motorized scooters to have proper training and be of legal <br />driving age. <br /> <br />Heidi Finberg, San Leandro Chamber of Commerce, addressed the City Council, thanking <br />Councilmember Stephens for acknowledging the rising costs of workers compensation to <br />businesses and stating it is currently the #1 issue facing businesses in California. Ms. Finberg <br />announced the Chamber has formed a task force to address the problem and would like to <br />
