Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br /> <br />10. ACTION ITEMS <br /> <br />A. Discussion Regarding California Proposition 54 - Classification by Race, Ethnicity, <br />Color, or National Origin. Initiative Constitutional Amendment. (Provides City <br />Council with information regarding Proposition 54 on the California October 7 Special <br />Election.) (1123) <br /> <br />Councilmember Grant stated she introduced the matter of Proposition 54 at the <br />September 2, 2003 City Council meeting and asked that it be referred to the City <br />Council Human Relations Committee for discussion. On September 11, 2003, the <br />Human Relations Committee discussed the matter and voted to recommend the City <br />Council oppose Proposition 54. <br /> <br />Barry Luboviski, Building Trades Council, addressed the City Council, stating many <br />organizations are opposed to Proposition 54 and urging the Council to oppose the <br />legislation. <br /> <br />- Minute Order No. 2003-050, Motion to take a position In opposition of <br />Proposition 54. <br /> <br />M/S/C Grant and Glaze.
