Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies <br /> <br />Mayor Young reported the LA WVMA crew is working diligently on the tunneling <br />project and is working with City staff to address the issues with the Heron Bay <br />residents. <br /> <br />B. Reports on City Council COlnmittees <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />12. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmelnber Badger reported he had the opportunity to attend the Decenlber 7 Pearl <br />Harbor Survivors event and presented a proclamation on behalf of the Mayor and Council. <br />He also attended the Breakfast with Santa along with about 60 children and cOlrunented that it <br />was a very good event. Councilnlember Badger reported he has received phone calls and a <br />letter from a resident regarding the intersection at Williams and Hays Streets. <br />Councilmember Badger noted that residents have reported several accidents and near- <br />accidents in the past month and want to see action taken. <br /> <br />Councilmen1ber Nardine noted the passing of Gloria Van Epps, who was a retired school <br />teacher and most recently taught at James Momoe Elementary School. Councilmember <br />Nardine requested the n1eeting be adjourned in her n1elnory. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Glaze asked for confirmation that no permits have been issued to relnove or alter <br />the trees lining the entrance to Heron Bay and that the trees will not be disturbed or removed <br />due to the work performed by LA WVMA. <br /> <br />Councilmember Santos con1mented on the letter forwarded to him by the Mayor regarding the <br />closing of the Rexam Beverage Company plant. He noted that it is the third major <br />manufacturing site in that vicinity which is now vacant. Councilmen1ber Santos commented <br />that in England, there is a movement to reduce the voting age to sixteen. He requested that <br />the inforn1ation he gathered be passed on to the Youth Advisory Commission for their <br />consideration. Councilmember Santos commented on the tragic fire which took the lives of <br />two children, Matthew and Angeline San11iento. He noted that the two cousins were friends <br />of his daughter's children. Councilmember Santos requested the meeting be adjourned in <br />their memory. <br />
