Mayor Young asked for clarification on the runoff election process, questioning whether a candidate who is elected directly can assurne office in January or has to wait until March. City Clerk Petersen advised the Rules & Communications Committee previously held a discussion regarding the seating of new Council Mernbers at the same time. Since none of the resolutions or ordinances on this agenda address when Council Members will be seated, the City Clerk indicated she will report back to the Council on this issue at a later date. The following Resolutions and Ordinances were then introduced: Resolution No. 2002-76, Resolution Providing for the Holding of a General Municipal Election [or the Election or a Mayor and Three City Council Members; Providing Notice of Election on thc 5th Day of November, 2002, and Directing That Said Notice Be Given; and Requesting That the Alameda County Board of Supcrvisors Permit the Consolidation of Said Municipal Election with the Statewide General Election to Be Held on November 5,2002.
