<br />Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council Mecting <br />May 20, 2002 <br /> <br />Pagc 13 <br /> <br />Director Rockett statcd the majority of the fec increase will be used for corrective <br />repmrs. <br /> <br />Public Input <br /> <br />I. Duane Dohse, Production Mana~er, Geor~ia Pacific, 1988 Marina <br />Boulevard, and three colleagues addrcssed the City Council and stated thc <br />numbers they have seen seem out of line. They advised a 10% increase in fees <br />would be a hardship tor them and said their corporate office is threatening to <br />closc this facility, which has been in San Leandro lex 50 years. ML Dohse <br />requested a moratorium on fee increases until they are more in linc with <br />neighboring communities. <br /> <br />2. Tom Guarino, San Leandro Industrial Roundtable, 262 Davis Street, <br />addressed the City Council and stated the City is vcry competitive in attracting <br />new business except for these fees. He recommended no adjustment in fees <br />until the consultant reviews the issue. <br /> <br />3. Chuck Pershing, Pechiney Plastic Pkg., Inc., 2450 Alvarado Street, <br />addressed the City Council and requestcd a moratorium on fee increases until <br />thc City can take another look at the fces and treatment process. <br /> <br />4. Mike Tye, Saag's Products, 1799 Factor Avenue, addrcssed the City Council <br />and stated the City should look not only to businesses for fee increases but at the <br />WPCP for cfficiencies to lower costs. Mr. Tye indicated his independent <br />compal1son showed the City's rates to be double those of Oro Loma and <br />EBMUD. <br /> <br />5. Manuel Berher, Mi Rancho, 425 Hester Street, addressed the City Council <br />and stated he opposes an increase in rates for his business, which has been in <br />San Leandro for 4 6 years. <br /> <br />D. Matter of Discussion of Legislativc Proposal (SB 1243) to Merge Association of <br />Bay Area Governments (ABAC) and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission <br />(MTC). No action requil'ed. (1102/1 003/1980) <br /> <br />Mayor Young and all Council Members agreed to watch the progress of the mergcr <br />and to bring it back to the City Counci I fe)r discussion as necessary. <br />
