CITY COUNCIL REPORTS <br /> <br />A Reports on fntcrgovemmental Agencies <br /> <br />I. Council Member Santos reportcd hc went to Sacramento with Assistant <br />Manager Schilling and Police Chicr Kitchen last week for a two-day meeting <br />with legislators, including Assemblywoman Ellen Corbett, Senator Liz <br />Figueroa, and colleagues 1i"om other cities_ They discussed the $23.6 billion <br />state deficit and the impact of funding cuts on serviccs to our conllnunity. He <br />said, although the state plans [0 shift property tax revenucs from redevelopment <br />agencies to help fund schools, they will preserve the VLP (vehicle license fee) <br />revenucs for local governments. Council Member Santos mentioned cities with <br />two-year budgets seemed to be in worse shape than those, sllch as San Leandro, <br />that work with annual budgets. <br /> <br />2. Mayor Young provided Council Members with informational materials <br />regarding reccnt Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) legislation and <br />the new League of Calif()mia Cities coalition called LOCAL ("Leave Our <br />Community Assets Local"). <br /> <br />B. Reports on City Council Committees <br /> <br />I. Business Development Committee Mceting of May 9, 2002. Accepted as <br />suhmitted. <br /> <br />a. Council Member Crant advised her name is missing from the attendance list <br />for the last meeting and requested it be added since she was in attendance. <br /> <br />b. Council Mcmber Locff1er clarified the Joint Project Area statement, saying <br />the agreement is a shared obligation between the City and investors in auto <br />row on Marina Boulevard. <br /> <br />2. City and San Leandro Unified School District Liaison Committee Meeting or <br />May 9, 2002. Accepted as amended. <br /> <br />a. Council Member Crant mentioncd the lengthy discussion at the meeting <br />about parking and traffic issues around San Leandro High School and <br />suggested Council discuss what actions the City could take to help <br />ameliorate the situation. <br /> <br />b. Council Member Loemer stated he understands the frustration of residents <br />regarding parking and tra[fic issues around the high school. He also <br />requested that records of the meetings bc accurate and askcd for his <br />comments to be recorded verbatim. <br />
