CITY MANAGER'S REPORT AND COMMENTS <br /> <br />City Manager Jermanis addressed several of the issues raised during Public Comments. <br />He indicated he and Council Member Santos have met and are continuing to discuss <br />the vacant property at Douglas Drive and Davis Street. <br /> <br />City Manager Jermanis also stated that both staff and the Police Department have been <br />in contact with the property owner of 2493 West Avenue 136th, and he will ask them <br />to report to him their findings on the issue. <br /> <br />City Manager Jermanis said the property owner near Washington School who engages <br />in a Native American religious ceremony every Thursday was issued a permit to bum <br />by the Alameda County Fire Department and the Bay Area Air Quality Management <br />(BAAQM) has tested the air quality in the area. He suggested the Fire Department <br />contact the property owner to see whether the ceremonial burning could start later in <br />the day. <br /> <br />Although the Environment Impact Report (EIR) pointed to a toxic issue on the vacant <br />lot at Douglas Drive and Davis Street, City Manager Jermanis said he will check on <br />the status of property, which is currently for sale. <br /> <br />City Manager Jermanis advised the advocates for the Joint Use and Maintenance of <br />Public Facilities Agreement that the City meets regularly with local school districts and <br />works cooperatively to address community and school issues. He said a joint meeting <br />will be held with San Lorenzo Unified School District on Tuesday, June 11, 2002. <br /> <br />City Manager Jermanis indicated he will ask the Police Department to check out what <br />appears to be a community standards issue at the property located at 2079 Vestal <br />Court. <br /> <br />The City Council recessed from 8:58 p.m. to 9:10 p.m. <br /> <br />Council Member Grant was excused for the balance of the meeting. <br />
