<br />Minutes -- City of San Leandro City Council Meeting <br />July 1,2002 <br /> <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />5. CITY MANAGER'S REPORT AND COMMENTS <br /> <br />The City Manager responded to remarks made by the public indicating he will have staff <br />review the truck traffic issue on Doolittle. <br /> <br />He also reviewed, in greater detail, the status of property at 2145 Marina Blvd., which is <br />currently zoned Commercial Neighhorhood-CN and is located within the West San <br />Leandro/MacArthur Boulevard Redevelopment Area. He additionally noted the current <br />Zoning Code allows for Religious Assembly use in residential-zoned property with the <br />approval of a Conditional Use Permit. <br /> <br />The City Manager noted he will have staff look into the status of the street <br />reconstruction on Arbor and Oaks Streets. He will also have the Police Department <br />prepare a report regarding the Timothy Drive crime concerns as well as the concerns <br />expressed regarding the Hirts' residence. <br /> <br />In addition, the City Manager noted that the Police Department is working with the City <br />Attorney to bring forward an ordinance regarding nuisance properties. <br /> <br />The City Manager continued by noting that the property the Eastshore Housing <br />Association is interested in purchasing on Davis Street is expected to be sold for <br />residential development. <br /> <br />He went on to clarity that the gun tax revenues received are a general tax and not a <br />special tax; that the noise ordinance will be taken up aLter the Housing Element is <br />considered by the City Council, and that he will check with the Sheriffs Office <br />regarding the domicile of the helicopters Hying over San Leandro. <br /> <br />In conclusion, the City Manager noted the Police and Fire Departments would be out in <br />force on the 4th of July. <br /> <br />The City Attorney reeonfirnled that the gun tax is a general tax and can be used for <br />whatever purposes the City Council chooses. <br /> <br />The City Manager additionally commented on the status of the insulation program for <br />the City of San Leandro. He indicated stall is still identifying a consultant, and <br />clarification ofthe language regarding the scope of work is in process. <br /> <br />6. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS <br /> <br />A. Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies <br /> <br />Council Member Santos gave a recap of the East Bay Division Meeting held on <br />June 20, 2002. <br />
