<br />Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council Meeting <br />July 1,2002 <br /> <br />Page 9 <br /> <br />A motion was made to appoint Council Member Santos as the Representative and <br />Council Member Grant as the Alternate to the Oakland Airport-Community Noise <br />Management Forum. <br /> <br />The following vote was taken: <br /> <br />M/S/C Loeffler and Nardine. Ayes: Loeffler, Nardine, Santos <br />Noes: Young, Grant, Badger <br /> <br />Given the vote was a tie vote, the Motion died. <br /> <br />Minute Order No. 2002-38, Matter of Appointments of City Council Members <br />to Intergovernmental Agencies. <br /> <br />The City Council continucd the matter of appointments to the Oakland <br />Airport-Community Noise Management Forum (appointment of one <br />"Elected Official," one" Alternate," and one "Community Representative"; <br />two-year terms of office - August 1, 2002 thru July 31, 2004). <br />(1270/1215/1156) <br /> <br />The Motion was approved without objection. <br /> <br />B. Resolution Supporting Equal Opportunity in San Leandro and eliminating the Use <br />of the Term "Minority" in City of San Leandro Programs, Services, Documents, and <br />Operations (resolves the City of San Leandro's intention to discontinue the use of <br />the term "minority"). <br /> <br />Public Comment: <br /> <br />Bernard Ashcraft, 14168 Outrigger, addressed the City Council in support of <br />adopting the resolution. <br /> <br />Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Dr., addressed the City Council in opposition to <br />the resolution. <br /> <br />Heidi Finberg, CEO of the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce, addressed the <br />City Council indicating the Chamber Board of Directors had taken a position in <br />support orthe proposed resolution and urging the City Council to do so as well. <br /> <br />Without objection from the City Council the [allowing was directed: <br /> <br />Minute Order No. 2002-39, Resolution Supporting Equal Opportunity in San <br />Leandro and Eliminating the Use of the Term "Minority" in City of San Leandro <br />Programs, Services, Documents, and Operations (resolves the City of San <br />Leandro's intention to discontinuc the use of the teTIn "minority"). <br /> <br />( 1250/1123) <br />
