<br />Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council Meeting <br />.July 15,2002 <br /> <br />Page 11 <br /> <br />neighborhood and feels he would be a good representative, but stressed he also <br />believes the Mayor has donc a good job and deserves an apology tor derogatory <br />remarks made by various individuals. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Glaze remarked that he would prefer to not make a decision regarding <br />San Leandro's representation at this time and would prefer that the City Council <br />reconsider this matter in December. He indicated his desirc to see the Mayor <br />continue to serve, in the interim, and added that she has been doing a (lne job in <br />representing the City's interests. <br /> <br />Council Member Grant indicated her preference to have the current composition of <br />representation remain "status quo" at this time, given the current City involvement <br />and the necd to develop a plan. <br /> <br />Council Member Santos commented on issues regarding airport noise and how that <br />is ai1ected by FedEx cargo planes. <br />Vice Mayor Glaze stressed the need for a plan of the City Council and not just an <br />"individual" plan of any onc Conncil Member. <br /> <br />Council Member LadDer agreed with the suggestion to defer this issue to a newly <br />seated City Council. He also stressed the need for a plan and notcd Council <br />Member Santos is attuncd to those issues. <br /> <br />Council Member Grant made a MOTION to reappoint Mayor Young as thc City's <br />representative on the Oakland Airport-Community Noise Management Forum, with <br />Council Member Santos serving as the alternate. The MOTION DIED for a lack of <br />a SECOND. <br /> <br />The City Council continued discussion regarding the need to have representation <br />and the possibility of having the cunent representatives remain serving until the end <br />or December. <br /> <br />MOTION by Vice Mayor Glaze to have the Mayor continue serving as the City's <br />representative, with Council Member Santos serving as the alternate, and Claire <br />Brunk serving as the Community representative through December 31, 2002. <br />MOTION DIED tor a lack ofa SECOND. <br /> <br />Extensive Council discussed ensued regarding the need to move tOlward in some <br />way in order to maintain a presence on the Noise Forum and allow the Mayor to <br />attend the upcoming mecting on Wednesday and the October Meeting. <br /> <br />Council Member Santos concuned with the ineffectiveness of the Forum and the <br />need for a plan. He suggested that the composition of reprcsentation remain the <br />same, have the Mayor attend the Wednesday night mecting, as well as the October <br />Meeting; and further suggested the City Council Airport Committee discuss the <br />
