Matter of Discussion Regarding the Housing Element Update Effort (reviews and discusses primary housing policy issucs that havc heen addressed to date with the IIousing Elcmcnt Ad Hoc Advisory Committee). Hanson Hom, Community Developmcnt Dircctor, announced the City of San Leandro had received, for their newly adoptcd Gencral Plan, the Annual Award for the "Best Comprehensive Planning Document in the State of Cali fomia". Hanson Hom then introduced Barry Millcr, Consultant, who prcscnted thc Housing Element Update. City Council discussion ensued regarding the need to address low income housing nceds, how housing affects schools, and potential housing programs Jar sharcd housing.
