Council Member Loefller reiterated the desire to have a formal Ad Hoc Committee
of the Council regarding "mega" houses, as the Council is in transition regarding
committee assignments and he does not want to see this issue fall through the
cracks.

Council Member Loefller inquired about a photo archival policy which was
brought up at the Rules & Communications Committee and requested a status of
the issue.

Council Member Loefller questioned the status of the Marina hotels issue and the
City Manager reported that an Ad Hoc Committee has received some good
proposals. An announcement could be made in the near future.

Council Member Loefller commented on the status of the City's approach to
addressing seismic issues of the "soft-story" apartment buildings. He stressed the
need for the City to be proactive. He would like a status report and update from
staff

The City Manager indicated this issue is before the Disaster Council.

Assistant City Manager Grycz commented that William Schock and Dan Lunsford
have been heavily involved in the GHAD process and have placed the issue of
"soft-story" buildings on hold during that time. The issue of "soft-story" buildings
will be coming before the Disaster Council at their next meeting.

Council Member Loefller extended thanks to Wandzia Grycz for her service to the
City and for her tenacity and commitment to disaster preparedness.

E. Council Member Santos remarked that he was advised that in the women's
dressing room of the Boy's and Girl's Club there is a tile strip within the shower
area that is a little high. He indicated that seniors are having a tough time
navigating that step. He asked that staff look into what might be able to be done.

Council Member Santos commented that he was misquoted by the San Leandro
Times regarding his position on the Real Property Transfer Tax and indicated that
he was not in favor of removing the tax. He would be in favor of considering
specific exemptions, however.

Council Member Santos added there has been some confusion as to who was the
first woman elected to the San Leandro City Council. He reported the first elected
woman was Helen Lawrence who served on the City Council from 1936 to 1947.
