Council Member Loefller reiterated the desire to have a formal Ad Hoc Committee <br />of the Council regarding "mega" houses, as the Council is in transition regarding <br />committee assignments and he does not want to see this issue fall through the <br />cracks. <br /> <br />Council Member Loefller inquired about a photo archival policy which was <br />brought up at the Rules & Communications Committee and requested a status of <br />the issue. <br /> <br />Council Member Loefller questioned the status of the Marina hotels issue and the <br />City Manager reported that an Ad Hoc Committee has received some good <br />proposals. An announcement could be made in the near future. <br /> <br />Council Member Loefller commented on the status of the City's approach to <br />addressing seismic issues of the "soft-story" apartment buildings. He stressed the <br />need for the City to be proactive. He would like a status report and update from <br />staff <br /> <br />The City Manager indicated this issue is before the Disaster Council. <br /> <br />Assistant City Manager Grycz commented that William Schock and Dan Lunsford <br />have been heavily involved in the GHAD process and have placed the issue of <br />"soft-story" buildings on hold during that time. The issue of "soft-story" buildings <br />will be coming before the Disaster Council at their next meeting. <br /> <br />Council Member Loefller extended thanks to Wandzia Grycz for her service to the <br />City and for her tenacity and commitment to disaster preparedness. <br /> <br />E. Council Member Santos remarked that he was advised that in the women's <br />dressing room of the Boy's and Girl's Club there is a tile strip within the shower <br />area that is a little high. He indicated that seniors are having a tough time <br />navigating that step. He asked that staff look into what might be able to be done. <br /> <br />Council Member Santos commented that he was misquoted by the San Leandro <br />Times regarding his position on the Real Property Transfer Tax and indicated that <br />he was not in favor of removing the tax. He would be in favor of considering <br />specific exemptions, however. <br /> <br />Council Member Santos added there has been some confusion as to who was the <br />first woman elected to the San Leandro City Council. He reported the first elected <br />woman was Helen Lawrence who served on the City Council from 1936 to 1947. <br />
