<br />Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council Meeting <br />May 21, 2001 <br /> <br />Page 7 <br /> <br />The City Council recessed from 9:10 p.m. to 9:25 p.m., and Council Member <br />Galvan left the Meeting. <br /> <br />4. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br /> <br />Public Comments are limited to 5 minutes per person, for a total time period of one <br />hour. When you address the City Council, you should fill out a speaker card and <br />submit it to the City Clerk so the order of speakers may be determined and an official <br />record of names and addresses obtained. The public is invited to make any comments <br />related to Agenda items, or other items of public interest, at this time. <br /> <br />A. Kathy Banks, 964 Hutchings Drive, addressed the City Council regarding the lot <br />at Douglas and Davis Street indicating that perhaps the City could facilitate <br />someone putting in a restaurant or some other type of business, such as a <br />Walgreens, at that location. She noted the lot is currently empty and is being used <br />to sell used cars. She also commented the City should find a way to move the <br />businesses at Palma Plaza elsewhere, in order to preserve jobs in the community, <br />so Davis Street Community Center could go there. <br /> <br />B. Mike Rawlis, 964 Hutchings Drive, addressed the City Council commenting on a <br />letter he received regarding parking on the grass. He stated the City needs a drug <br />store at Douglas and Davis Street that would be open 24 hours a day so people <br />could get their medicines when they need them. <br /> <br />C. Larry Norry, 2532 Williams Street, addressed the City Council regarding Item C <br />under New Business and requested the Council to not approve the Parcel Map. <br />He indicated the street widths stated on the map are incorrect and that they are <br />actually 32 feet wide. <br /> <br />D. Audrey Albers, 2037 Marina Court, addressed the City Council regarding Item <br />C under New Business, indicating the lot is a substandard lot. She commented on <br />problems in the flatlands of San Leandro. She also indicated that the streets shown <br />on the Parcel Map are incorrect and they are actually 32 feet in width. She said <br />there is a need for controls over development. She questioned why some homes in <br />the area do not have to have garages. <br /> <br />E. Charles Gilcrest, 1271 Terra Avenue, addressed the City Council on behalf of <br />the Chamber regarding their support for the Resolution on the agenda urging <br />notification in advance for energy crisis power outages. <br />
