Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council Meeting
May 21, 2001

Page 7

The City Council recessed from 9:10 p.m. to 9:25 p.m., and Council Member
Galvan left the Meeting.

4. PUBLIC COMMENTS

Public Comments are limited to 5 minutes per person, for a total time period of one
hour. When you address the City Council, you should fill out a speaker card and
submit it to the City Clerk so the order of speakers may be determined and an official
record of names and addresses obtained. The public is invited to make any comments
related to Agenda items, or other items of public interest, at this time.

A. Kathy Banks, 964 Hutchings Drive, addressed the City Council regarding the lot
at Douglas and Davis Street indicating that perhaps the City could facilitate
someone putting in a restaurant or some other type of business, such as a
Walgreens, at that location. She noted the lot is currently empty and is being used
to sell used cars. She also commented the City should find a way to move the
businesses at Palma Plaza elsewhere, in order to preserve jobs in the community,
so Davis Street Community Center could go there.

B. Mike Rawlis, 964 Hutchings Drive, addressed the City Council commenting on a
letter he received regarding parking on the grass. He stated the City needs a drug
store at Douglas and Davis Street that would be open 24 hours a day so people
could get their medicines when they need them.

C. Larry Norry, 2532 Williams Street, addressed the City Council regarding Item C
under New Business and requested the Council to not approve the Parcel Map.
He indicated the street widths stated on the map are incorrect and that they are
actually 32 feet wide.

D. Audrey Albers, 2037 Marina Court, addressed the City Council regarding Item
C under New Business, indicating the lot is a substandard lot. She commented on
problems in the flatlands of San Leandro. She also indicated that the streets shown
on the Parcel Map are incorrect and they are actually 32 feet in width. She said
there is a need for controls over development. She questioned why some homes in
the area do not have to have garages.

E. Charles Gilcrest, 1271 Terra Avenue, addressed the City Council on behalf of
the Chamber regarding their support for the Resolution on the agenda urging
notification in advance for energy crisis power outages.
