CITY OF SAN LEANDRO STAFF REPORT APPROVED AND FORWARDED TO CITY COUNCIL TO: John Jermanis, City Manager DATE: March 5,2007 FROM: Uchenna Udemezue, Director Engineering and Transportation BY: Kenneth Joseph, City Engineer SUBJECT PROJECT/PROJECT DESCRI TION: RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE WORK FOR THE DAVIS STREET/EAST 14TH STREET LIGHTING AND PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENTS, PROJECT NO. 03-961-83-062 This project provided new decorative streetlights along East 14th Street from Parrott Street to Hays Street and along Davis Street from Hays Street to East 14th Street. SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends acceptance of the work, filing of the Notice of Completion, and upon completion to the satisfaction of the City Engineer of the one-year maintenance period, hereby authorizes the City Manager to release the Maintenance Bond for the subject project. BACKGROUND As part of the overall improvements for the downtown area, the City Council approved pedestrian enhancements along East 14th Street in the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) budget for Fiscal Year 2002-03. Analysis On September 6, 2005 by Resolution No. 2005-132, the construction of the Davis Street/East 14th Street Lighting Improvements was awarded to St. Francis Electric. The improvement included replacing the existing street lighting with decorative fixtures along East 14th Street from Parrott Street to Hays Street and along Davis Street from East 14th Street to Hays Street. Also, new conductors and a service cabinet were installed and connected to a PG&E transformer in the plaza area near the Wells Fargo building. An additional service cabinet was installed as part of this project to power the Redflex camera installed at the Davis Street and East 14th Street intersection. The construction is now complete and staff recommends acceptance of the project.
