POTENTIALLY
ISSUES POTENTIALLY SJGNIFICANT LESS THAN NO
~-~GNJFJCANT UNLESS SJGNIFICANT IMPACT SOURCES
ISSUES MITIGATION IMPACT
IN CORPORA TED

EXPLANATION: The application is for the rezoning of properties that are vacant or underdeveloped as identified in the Project
Description section of this Initial Study. Future development on the sites could include new residential development, mixed-use or
commercial developments on some or all of the five sites. If future development does occur, the aesthetic character of the sites
would change to become less suburban in nature and more urban. Such land uses are-envisioned in the General Plan. All of the sites
contain some level of development and future new development that would be facilitated by the project would result in a less-than-
significant impact with regard to potential degradation of the visual character of the sites and related scenic resources. All future
development on all of the project sites will be subject to design review by the City of San Leandro to ensure compliance with
applicable design standards.
There would be no impact with regard to impacts to scenic vistas or degradation of nearby scenic vistas, since none of the five sites
comprising the project are identified as a scenic vista in the General Plan nor are adjacent uses considered scenic vistas.
Although any future development on any or all of the sites could increase the amount of light or glare onto adjacent streets or
properties, existing development on several of the sites contain building lighting and/or commercial parking lot lighting. Future
construction on the sites will be subject to design review by the City of San Leandro to ensure light levels do not result in a
significant impact to surrounding properties or streets.
15. CULTURAL RESOURCES. Would the proJect: .'
a. Cause a substantial adverse change in the
significance of a historical resource as defined X 2
in section 15064.5?
b. Cause a substantial adverse change in the
significance of an archaeological resource X 2
oursuant to section 15064.5?
c. Directly or indirectly destroy a unique
paleontological resource or site or unique X 2
geologic feature?
d. Disturb any human remains, including those
interred outside of formal cemeteries? X 2
EXPLANATION: No known significant paleontological, Native American or archeological resources have been identified any of
the five sites. Similarly, there are no known unique ethnic, cultural or religious resources on any of the sites, and therefore, no
potential for restrictions. The project is to rezone the properties from residential and industrial designations to a commercial
designation. No development is proposed as part this entitlement, and any future development of the sites would undergo separate
environmental review.
16. AGRICULTURE RESOURCES. Wouldtht! nfoiect: .
a. Convert Prime Farmland, Unique Farmland, or X 2,6
Farmland of Statewide Importance (Farmland),
as shown on the maps prepared pursuant to the
Farmland Mapping and Monitoring Program of
the California Resources Agency, to non-
agricultural use?
b. Conflict with existing zoning for agricultural X 2,6
use, or a Williamson Act contract?
c. Involve other changes in the existing X 2,6
environment which, due to their location or
nature, could result in conversion of Farmland,
to non-agricultural use?

Cherry Street Rezone - Initial Study Checklist
PLN2006-00075

12

February 2, 2007
