End of Public Comments on the Consent Calendar B. Reports on Conferences and Seminars Vice Mayor Grant reported on a recent conference she attended on civic engagement sponsored by ABAG, MTC and other agencies. She shared information on model programs from the cities of Menlo Park and Redwood City. Vice Mayor Grant noted that both she and Councilmember Gregory plan to attend the ABAG General Assembly meeting on April 19 in San Francisco. C. Reports on City Council Committees 1. Finance Committee Meeting of March 20,2007. Accepted as revised. Vice Mayor Grant requested that the recap of the Mayor's Community Fund discussion in the Finance Committee meeting highlights be corrected to accurately capture the discussion. Mr. Jermanis stated that at no time has the City ever used CDBG funds to cover Council travel to conferences. Also, Mr. Jermanis had suggested that the fund be established for the Mayor and City Council, rather than just for the Mayor. There was also discussion regarding the City Council's Empowerment Funds. Mr. Jermanis indicated that he would work with staff to correct the highlights. Mayor Santos stated that he has received 12 requests from groups that were previously funded, and he has donated to two of them. He has agreed to auction two City Hall tours and lunch with the Mayor, which he will pay for himself. Mayor Santos indicated that he has written to the other requesters, informing them that the Mayor's Community Fund has been discontinued, and that the City is reviewing the possibly of establishing another donation program. Mayor Santos stated that he did not wish to have the Mayor's Office administer such a program, and he hoped the Finance Committee would take up the matter again. Mayor Santos commented that the Mayor's position has taken a $750 per month pay cut, he has chosen not to participate in the U.S. Mayors Conference this year, and he has taken other actions to reduce the expenses of the Mayor's office. He noted that the Mayor's Community Fund program created administrative issues for City staff. He has directed organizations requesting donations to apply for community benefit grants, which are reviewed by the Human Services Commission. 2. Marina Committee Meeting of March 20,2007.
