<br />Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council and <br />San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting - February 7, 2000 <br /> <br />Page 11 <br /> <br />H. Glenn Hilton, 687 Pershing Drive, addressed the City Council in support of New <br />Business Item 8.E. <br /> <br />I. John Rucker, 232 Lexington Avenue, addressed the City Council indicating he <br />put the Charter' Amendment issue on a neighborhood ballot, and it was <br />overwhelmingly approved. He urged the City Council to approve New Business <br />Item 8.E. <br /> <br />1. Vera Ayres, 381 Melven Court, addressed the City Council in support of New <br />Business Item 8.B. She also urged the City Council to add a measure to repeal the <br />Real Property Transfer Tax. <br /> <br />K. Walter Hirt, 716 Warden Avenue, addressed the City Council, reminding them it <br />is not the City's money the City spends -- it is the residents' money. He <br />commented that he feels the City Manager's salary is too high. He would like to <br />see the Real Property Transfer Tax issue on the November ballot, also. <br /> <br />L. Harold Perez, 2052 Vestal Court, addressed the City Council, commenting that <br />he feels the garbage service contract should have been put out to bid. <br /> <br />M. Ellen Geis, 834 Cary Drive, addressed the City Council in opposition to having a <br />Utility Users' Tax on her property-tax bill. She urged the City Council to approve <br />New Business Item 8.B. <br /> <br />N. Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, addressed the City Council in opposition <br />to the Charter Amendment for a majority vote for the Mayor and City Council. He <br />feels it will inhibit first-time candidates from placing their name on the ballot. He <br />submitted a letter indicating further items he feels need to be placed on the ballot, <br />along with the proposed Charter Amendment, which is under New Business Item <br />8.E tonight. He also stated the garbage contract issue should have been a public <br />hearing. He stated he feels the Real Property Transfer Tax should be placed on the <br />November ballot for a vote of the people. <br /> <br />O. Mr. Sandoval, 2523 Walnut Drive, addressed the City Council regarding his <br />support for the paving of Walnut Drive. <br /> <br />6. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS <br /> <br />A. Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies <br /> <br />1. Council Member Loeffler passed out materials regarding the Smart Corridor <br />Concept which he received at the Alameda County Congestion Management <br />Agency (CMA) Retreat he attended last Saturday. <br />
