<br />Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council - May 1, 2000 <br /> <br />Page 6 <br /> <br />6. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS <br /> <br />A. Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies <br /> <br />1. Mayor Young reported the Chairman of the Board of the Chamber of <br />Commerce and she attended a Policy Advisory Committee Meeting for the <br />Major Investment Study (M.I.S.) with Alameda County Transit. She indicated <br />the Committee is going to forward to the full Board the request that we begin <br />to plan immediately for the east/west Transit Development Plan (T.D.P.), <br />which is the plan that will address the transportation needs for the eastlwest <br />corridor in San Leandro. <br /> <br />The Mayor also remarked that at the last Alameda County Waste Management <br />Authority Meeting they handed out awards to school children who participated <br />in the art project for reuse of recycled products. She reported that she was <br />proud to announce there were at least ten classrooms from San Leandro who <br />received not only checks, but awards for their work. She indicated she will <br />forward to the City Council a list of those classrooms that received awards. <br /> <br />The Mayor reported on the final meeting of the East Bay Conversion <br />Reinvestment Commission. She indicated the Committee will continue with a <br />once-a-year update for cities regarding what is going on with reuse of bases. <br />She stated if there is anything urgent to report, she will bring the information <br />to the City Council. <br /> <br />2. Council Member Loeffler provided an update on the ABAG Smart Growth <br />Conference which took place in San Francisco. He passed out information he <br />would like the Council to review. He indicated his desire that San Leandro <br />Commissioners be urged to attend this Conference in the future. He noted <br />there were ten priority actions that were suggested for consideration. He gave <br />the information to the City Council for their review. <br /> <br />3. Council Member Lothrop commented on the ABAG Smart Growth <br />Conference also, indicating that historical preservation was a part of the <br />discussions that took place. <br /> <br />B. Reports on City Council Committees <br /> <br />1. Economic Development and Redevelopment Committee Meeting of April 13, <br />2000. The City Council accepted the report provided in the Agenda <br />packet. <br /> <br />2. Finance Committee Meeting of April 12, 2000. The City Council accepted <br />the report provided in the Agenda packet. <br />
