Resolution No. 2000-62, Resolution Approving Submittal of a Funding Request <br />Form to the California Department of Conservation, Division of Recycling, for <br />California Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Reduction Funds in the <br />Amount of $22,039 (provides for submission of funding request in the amount of <br />$22,039 to be used to continue to promote recycling of all aluminum, glass, <br />plastic, and bimetal beverage containers sold in California and to support litter- <br />reduction education and activities). (1934) <br /> <br />8. NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />A. Matter of Appointment of Vice Mayor. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Galvan thanked the City Council and staff for assistance during his <br />term of Vice Mayor and made the following motion: <br /> <br />The following Motion was then introduced: <br /> <br />Minute Order No. 2000-24, Matter of Appointment of Vice Mayor. (1315) <br /> <br />The City Council appointed Council Member Glaze as Vice Mayor. <br /> <br />MlS/C Galvan and Lothrop. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br /> <br />The City Council recessed at 8:47 p.m. for a short reception in the Gallery Room to honor <br />outgoing Vice Mayor Gordon Galvan. <br /> <br />The City Council reconvened at 9:05 p.m. <br /> <br />Remarks were made by out-going Vice Mayor Galvan indicating how he has enjoyed <br />serving as Vice Mayor over the last 18 months. There was then a presentation of a plaque <br />recognizing former Vice Mayor Galvan's service by Vice Mayor Glaze. <br /> <br />There was then the ceremonial "changing of the Vice Mayor/City Council Member signs." <br /> <br />B. Resolution Approving Alameda County Expenditure Plan and Recommendation to <br />the Alameda County Board of Supervisors to Place an Extension of the One-Half- <br />Cent Sales Tax on the November 2000 Ballot (Measure B) (provides for extending <br />the County-Wide Measure B one-half-cent retail sales/use tax to fund programs <br />and projects described in the proposed Alameda County Expenditure Plan). <br /> <br />There was a power-point presentation made by Christine Monsen of Alameda <br />County Transit Authority regarding the Measure "B" Expenditure Plan. <br />
