Livermore, Kathleen

From: John Sherwood Osherwoo4@yahoo.com]
Sent: Wednesday, June 06, 2007 6:01 PM
To: Livermore, Kathleen
Subject: [POSSIBLE SPAM] Opposition to Grocery Outlet
Importance: Low

Hi Kathy,
I wanted to voice my opposition to the Grocery Outlet being considered a "neighborhood" grocery store.
They are as much a supermarket as any other chain, as evidenced by there other stores in Hayward,
Oakland, Berkeley. They state on their website that their "stores are approximately 20,000 square feet,
with an annual [per store] sales averaging $5M". And they also have a wide variety of merchandise,
much beyond simple groceries: "Our offering is wide: Groceries, frozen, deli & refrigerated, produce,
fresh meat (selected stores), general merchandise - seasonal products, housewares, toys, and gifts-
health & beauty, and a most impressive inventory of beer & wine."
I also strongly feel that Grocery Outlet does not fit into the future Downtown plans, especially
surrounding TOD and the type of retailers San Leandro needs to attract people into the downtown area.

I am against Grocery Outlet moving into the old Albertsons site, and urge that the Zoning Board deny
their appeal.

Thank you,
John Sherwood
1064 Glen Drive
San Leandro, CA 94577

Don't get soaked.
