<br />Priority # 2. Preserve existing affordable rental and ownership housing for <br />low- and moderate-income households. <br /> <br />Activities: <br />. Apartment Rehabilitation Program <br />. The City continues to track inquiries for its apartment rehabilitation program, but there <br />have been no projects funded. <br /> <br />. Housing Rehabilitation Program <br />The Housing Rehabilitation Program provides low-interest rehabilitation loans up to $35,000 for <br />single-family houses. This program provided seven loans totaling $219,258, using <br />Redevelopment Housing Set Aside Funds. Of these seven loans, five were for seniors, three <br />were for extremely low-income, three for very low-income, and one for low-income households. <br /> <br />. The Housing Rehabilitation Program, which also has six types of grant programs for <br />minor home repairs, provided 22 grants totaling $90,758, using Redevelopment Housing <br />Set Aside Funds, for lower-income home owners. Of these 22 grants, 18 were for <br />seniors, 11 were for extremely low-income and 11 for very low-income households. The <br />breakdown for the types of services is: <br />· 7 Accessibility <br />· ] Asbestos abatement <br />· 3 Exterior paint <br />· 9 Mobile home repair <br />· 2 Seismic strengthening <br /> <br />. Section 8 Program <br />. The City supports the maintenance of the Housing Authority of Alameda County's <br />(HACA) program for Section 8 rental assistance vouchers and certificates that can be <br />used for San Leandro residents. HAC A provided 1,300 Section 8 vouchers and Shelter <br />Plus Care certificates for rental assistance in San Leandro, an increase of 12 <br />vouchers/certificates (1 %) being used in our City since July 2006. <br /> <br />Priority # 3. Assist low- and moderate-income first-time homebuyers. <br /> <br />Activities: <br />. Mortgage Credit Certificate Program <br />The City participates in the Alameda County Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) <br />Program and provides pro-rated administrative funding for the program. One low- <br />income San Leandran received a MCC in FY2006-07 for a $326,000 mortgage to help <br />her purchase a home. <br /> <br />. First-Time Homebuyer Program <br />.
